Roman Numeral Tattoo Fonts

Roman numerals have marked important dates for two thousand years — on monuments, cornerstones, clock faces and title pages. That history is exactly their appeal as tattoos: a date in numerals looks inscribed rather than written, monumental rather than casual. Fonts modelled on classical Roman inscriptions — Cinzel above all — reproduce that chiselled, carved-stone look faithfully on skin.

There is also a quiet privacy to numerals. A string like XIV · III · MCMXCV reads as elegant ornament to strangers, while you know it carries a birthday, a wedding day, or the day everything changed.

The most common roman numeral tattoos mark the obvious milestones: a child’s birth date on the wrist, a wedding anniversary on the ring finger or forearm, the date of a loss or a survival. Some people tattoo a single year — MCMXCIV — as a clean generational mark. Whatever the date, verify the conversion twice: I, V, X, L, C, D and M leave no room for error, and a wrong numeral is a typo in stone.

Separators matter too. Dots, dashes or small lines between day, month and year keep long numeral strings readable — preview both versions before deciding.
